CHRIS WOUTERS - INDUCTED 2002
Chris played 19 seasons of
police softball at the highest level of national competition. He stared
with three Detroit Metropolitan area teams: the Warren Police, Southeast Lawmen,
and the multiple
year champions, Macomb Metro Police.
During his playing time he was the recipient of many individual awards. He was
selected to numerous
All-Tournament teams and was MVP while leading his teams to prominence in many
national police
tournaments, like Dayton Ohio National Championship and the Detroit World
Classic.
He played shortstop, a naturally gifted athlete blessed with a superb throwing
arm and the uncanny
ability to make acrobatic fielding plays. He made one of the most demanding
positions on the diamond
seem effortless.
A superb left-handed hitter with the rare combination of power and ability to
hit for average, he often
lead his team in both home-runs and batting average. His speed on the bases, and
power at the plate
made him an extraordinary hitter.
As dominant a player he was, off the field he surpassed this dominance by being
a charismatic and
inspirational a person one could ever have the pleasure of knowing.
